🎣 Back-to-School Bluegill Bash: Casting Joy into the New School Year
As summer winds down and backpacks begin to fill with fresh notebooks and sharpened pencils, Greenup County reels in one last splash of seasonal fun with the Back-to-School Bluegill Bash!
📍 Greenbo Lake State Resort Park Marina becomes the heart of the action on Saturday, August 2, 2025, where kids ages 17 and under gather to celebrate the start of a new school year with rods in hand and smiles on their faces.
From 8:00 to 9:00 AM, young anglers register and gear up, and by 9:00 AM, the lake comes alive with the excitement of casting lines and chasing big bites. Whether fishing from boat or bank, participants compete for prizes in categories like largest catch, most weight caught from a boat, and most weight caught from the bank. The weigh-in runs from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, allowing families flexibility and time to enjoy the event at their own pace.
But the Bash is more than just a tournament, it’s a celebration. Kids can join in a casting contest, enjoy hotdogs and drinks, and even snag free bait if they’re among the first 50 to arrive. A limited number of fishing poles will be available to borrow, but bringing your own is encouraged.
This free event is hosted by Greenup County Tourism, and it’s a shining example of how the community blends outdoor recreation with heartfelt tradition. It’s not just about catching fish; it’s about catching memories.
So grab your tackle box, rally the kids, and head to Greenbo Lake for a morning of laughter, learning, and lakeside legacy. The Bluegill Bash is where Greenup County’s spirit shines brightest, right at the water’s edge.
